I have been a professional 'contract' or 'freelance' photographer for 30+ years. I have worked for publishers, politicians, police, governments and some actual kings of commerce. Many of those years I shot only Black & White; specializing in photo-journalism in my favorite environment ~ documenting the typically blue collar industries of the Pacific Northwest. As a working photographer in a small market, urban or rural, you quickly learn that to survive in the business and continue doing what you love ~ is by making images that are good enough that people will not only pay you ~ but then refer you on to someone else. Good service and building trusting relationships are the key to any success. To be able to wake up (almost) each day looking forward to your work and the people you will meet...makes for good times and a good life. ~ Susan Parish
